Hi everyone, Dr. Jib here 😊 Today, I’d like to share from my real clinical experience — a question I hear all the time: “Doctor, should I go with Korean or European filler?” The truth is, there’s no single answer. It depends on what result you want, how your skin is structured, and your budget too.
First, let’s understand what fillers really are
Most fillers used in clinics today are made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) — a naturally occurring substance in our skin that helps retain moisture and keep the skin firm.
When used in filler form, HA molecules are cross-linked (chemically bonded) to make them last longer and have different textures — from firm to soft — depending on where they’re injected.
When I choose a filler, I look at a few key physical properties:
- G′ (G-prime) = gel firmness or lifting strength. The higher the value, the better the structural support.
- Cohesivity = how well the gel sticks together, preventing lumpiness and ensuring smooth integration.
- Hydrophilicity = water absorption tendency. Lower hydrophilicity means less swelling after injection.
So each filler has its own “character,” and my job is to match that personality to each patient’s skin and goal.
Restylane (Europe) 🇪🇺 : Firm, reliable, and clinically proven
When we talk about European fillers, Restylane from Sweden is one of the most well-known and well-researched brands, with over 20 years of data.
There are two main technologies I commonly use:
- NASHA® Technology – high G′ gel for strong lifting and minimal swelling. Ideal for structure work such as cheeks, chin, jawline, or nose.
- OBT™ (Optimal Balance Technology) – softer and more flexible, perfect for areas that move a lot such as nasolabial folds, lips, or marionette lines.
Newer versions like NASHA HD™ and SHAYPE™ were designed for even stronger projection and contouring — think of them as a “bone-like” lift for the face.
👉 In short, if you want a filler that lifts well, holds shape beautifully, and swells minimally — Restylane is my go-to choice.
Also, not many people know this: Restylane actually has a full range of products — from very firm to very soft gels — meaning it can be used for every facial area. It’s all about selecting the right formula for the right purpose.
Lorient (Korea) 🇰🇷 : Smooth, natural, and gentle on sensitive skin
Lorient, on the other hand, is a Korean filler I’ve been using increasingly because it offers a different texture and feel.
Its main highlight is the low injection force — it flows smoothly through the needle, allowing me to inject gently with minimal trauma to the tissue. This makes it great for patients with thin or sensitive skin, or those who worry about bruising or swelling.
It comes in multiple versions — No.2 / No.4 / No.6 — each with different gel densities:
- 2 → very soft, ideal for under-eye and lips.
- 4 → medium firmness, good for smile lines or marionette areas.
- 6 → firmer gel, used for volumizing cheeks or chin.
Overall, Lorient gives a soft, blended, natural finish with minimal swelling — perfect for patients who prefer subtle refinement.
How I choose for each facial area
I usually consider three factors: skin layer, movement, and treatment goal.
Area | Recommended Brand | Dr. Jib’s Notes |
Cheeks / Chin / Jawline | Restylane NASHA / SHAYPE | Strong lifting, defined contour, minimal swelling |
Nasolabial folds / Lips / Marionette lines | Restylane OBT / Lorient No.4 | Soft, flexible look when smiling or talking |
Under eyes / Tear trough | Lorient No.2 | Thin skin, needs smooth blending, no puffiness |
Forehead / Temples | Lorient No.4 or Restylane OBT | Smooth, even contour across curved surface |
For many patients, I often combine both — for example, build the base with Restylane NASHA and blend the edges with Lorient for the most natural finish.

Price — a key factor that helps decision-making
Let’s be honest — pricing plays a big role in choosing the filler too. Generally speaking:
Brand | Approx. Price per 1cc | Key Advantages |
Restylane (Europe) | Around 12,000–18,000 THB/cc | Full product range for all areas, excellent consistency, long-lasting results |
Lorient (Korea) | Around 7,000–10,000 THB/cc | Gentle texture, low swelling, good for beginners or sensitive skin |
If you want premium, long-lasting quality, I’d recommend Restylane. But if you prefer a natural start, softer feel, or lower investment, Lorient is a great option too.
Longevity and safety
Both fillers typically last 9–18 months, depending on the area, filler type, and lifestyle. Areas with more movement tend to break down faster.
Both Restylane and Lorient have CE / KFDA / FDA certifications. Still, the most important factor is the injector’s experience and the clinic’s safety protocol. At 22 Square Clinic, we always have Hyaluronidase (the dissolving enzyme) and emergency protocols ready — just in case.
Quick summary — Dr. Jib’s recommendation
Want strong lift, clear contour, minimal swelling → Restylane NASHA / SHAYPE / OBT
Want smooth, blended, soft finish, budget-friendly → Lorient
Remember: Restylane covers every facial zone, so in many cases, the final decision depends on your anatomy and budget — not just the brand name.
At the end of the day, choosing the right filler isn’t about which brand is “better” — it’s about finding the one that fits your skin, your goals, and your natural look
