Why Choose Picolaser at Our Clinic?
- Picolistic: The Picolaser program with Discovery Picolaser combines the words “Pico” and “Holistic,” meaning the use of Picolaser to treat all skin problems in a holistic approach. The issues you’re concerned about may not be the only problems you have, and various laser techniques are combined to treat them.
- Assessment Before Treatment: The skin condition and issues are evaluated before each laser session, both visually and with a special dermoscope camera to identify even the smallest lesions, ensuring that the problem can truly be treated with laser.
- Experience: All of our doctors have experience, providing care with attention to detail, and they personally follow up with each case after the laser treatment.
- Step-by-Step Explanation: The doctor will explain every step of post-treatment care to ensure the best results and minimize the risk of complications such as post-laser pigmentation.
- Expert Medical Team: Our clinic has a team of doctors with experience and specialized training in dermatology.
- No Pressure Sales: We do not have salespeople pushing packages. Clients will receive advice and treatment directly from our expert doctors.
Picosecond Laser or simply Picolaser is an innovative new technology for facial treatment that effectively addresses issues such as dark spots, melasma, freckles, enlarged pores, and scars, especially acne scars. It works by using high-speed, precise laser energy. Let’s take a look at how Picolaser treatment can give you brighter, smoother skin in this article.
Picosecond Laser, or Picolaser, is a laser that emits pulses in the picosecond range (one trillionth of a second), creating a photoacoustic effect that breaks down pigment particles using plasma energy. This process shatters the pigment into very small particles without causing heat buildup in the surrounding tissue. As a result, there is a much lower chance of post-laser pigmentation or discoloration, and the recovery time is significantly shorter compared to Q-Switch Laser.
The Pico Laser delivers energy deep into the dermis layer to break down damaged collagen and stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin.
There are two main types of energy delivery:
Pico Full Beam
This method releases laser energy across the full area in picosecond pulses, delivering a powerful impact that breaks down pigment particles into very fine pieces. This makes it easier for the body’s white blood cells to clear away the broken pigment.
Advantages:
- The laser energy transforms into plasma energy, which only targets the pigment and prevents excess energy from spreading to the surrounding tissues.
- This reduces the risk of post-laser pigmentation or discoloration significantly.
Pico Fractional Beam
This is a dual-level skin stimulation technology. It releases energy in a ring-like pattern, creating two effects on the skin simultaneously:
- Cold ablation (creating small holes) on the surface of the skin at the outer edges.
- Small bubbles are created in the dermis layer (laser-induced optical breakdown or LIOB) in the center.
This technique targets both old collagen and elastin, while stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin in two layers of the dermis.
Advantages:
- It effectively treats issues like enlarged pores, acne scars, and sunken scars with superior results.
- Pigmentation Issues:
- Targets skin discoloration such as dark spots, melasma, freckles, and other pigmentation problems effectively.
- Skin Concerns Requiring Collagen Boost:
- Addresses skin issues like enlarged pores, acne scars, and wrinkles by stimulating collagen and elastin production, leading to smoother, firmer skin.
- Improved Skin Appearance:
- Helps make the skin appear brighter and more plump, providing a refreshed, youthful glow.
- Variety of Wavelengths:
- Pico Laser is available in various wavelengths, including 1064, 532, and 755 nm.
- The different wavelengths penetrate different depths of the skin and target different energy receptors, offering tailored solutions for specific skin concerns.
- Each wavelength provides unique results, making Pico Laser a versatile option for various skin issues.
Although it is the same type of Picolaser machine, the different energy settings, techniques, or levels of expertise will result in varying treatment outcomes. This also affects the likelihood of experiencing temporary or permanent side effects after the laser treatment.
- Preparation before treatment: Patients will undergo a skin assessment and receive advice from the doctor on how to prepare for the treatment. A numbing cream will be applied to the targeted areas 30-40 minutes before the procedure.
- During the treatment: The Picolaser treatment typically takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the area being treated, the level of detail, and the skin concerns being addressed.
- Immediately after the treatment: The doctor will assess the intensity of the procedure. A cold air device and ice compresses may be used to alleviate any burning or discomfort. In some cases, hydrogel masks and growth factors may be applied post-treatment to help reduce pain and promote faster healing of the treated areas.
(with scabbing)
- Avoid washing the face for the first 24 hours. After this, cleanse with plain water and use a mild soap.
- Apply a moisturizer regularly to keep the skin hydrated.
- Avoid sun exposure for about 2 weeks to prevent further irritation.
- Use sunscreen 3-4 days after the laser treatment to reduce irritation.
- Avoid acne medication or whitening products until the scabs have fallen off or the skin no longer feels irritated.
- Makeup can be applied once the scabs have fallen off and healing is underway.
At 22 Square Clinic, we prioritize results, effectiveness, and minimizing side effects when selecting treatment technologies.
